This year, our team at Purple Rose Digital joined up with Mid Sussex District Council to produce its new digital event called Open 4 Business. Held at the King’s Centre in Burgess Hill on Tuesday 18th October, over 100 local businesses attended to learn from leading industry experts on cloud accounting, SEO, analytics, Google Apps, social media, email marketing and content marketing.

Our key takeaways from each speaker:

Social Media – Kerry Watkins – Social Brighton

Better to use one or two social media channels really well than all of them badly.

Email Marketing – Komal Helyer – Pure360

Use data to predict future purchase behaviour for intelligent personalisation.

Content Marketing – Jon Norris – RocketMill

Forget keywords! Google is punishing organic results – it’s about audience targeting and engagement.

Analytics – Rhys Jackson – RocketMill

Spending time and resources on collecting digital analytics without using them is like winning the lottery and never cashing your ticket.

Google Apps for Work – Steve Hannon – Cloud Technology Solutions

Employees want to work the way they live – 53% of workers are now using personal devices and apps in the work place.

Preparing for an SEO Campaign – Nathan Davidson – digitalDavidson

Set objectives and find your competitive edge when planning your SEO campaign.

Cloud Accounting – Tom Bowen – Hilton Sharp & Clarke

Use the cloud to increase efficiency by automating invoices and digitally tracking expenses.

Exhibitors at the event included Wired Sussex, Sussex Innovation Centre and Sussex University amongst a range of other local web design, video production, SEO, training and content marketing businesses.

Aneela Rose, Director of Purple Rose Digital, said “I’m thrilled with the success of the event and incredibly proud of what our team achieved, from the high profile speakers to the buzzy atmosphere,” Aneela also added, “It’s been great to share our digital knowledge with the local business community and we are excited about supporting similar events in the future”.
